~ Wings of the Morrigan ~
Brand Description: Goddess of victory, courage, and sovereignty. If honored appropriately, she may strengthen the righteous warrior and stand as a fierce protectress of the land. If angered, she may portend certain doom. Soft, smokey leather with a splash of red wine, an offering of black cherries and bitter chocolate, the steel and stone of the battlefield. Wear this enchanted scent to summon your valor and claim your crown.

First Impression: This is a deep scent, and if it had a color, it would be deep blood red. There is a bitterness at the top, with an undertone of the sweetness of cherry, wine, and chocolate. The atmospheric, cold scent of stone surrounds the scent as well.

Overall Impression and Wear Time: I immediately fell in love with this scent, even though when I read the description I wasn’t convinced that I wouldn’t like it. Dried down, the smokey leather melds with skin to create a deep and dark natural scent, paired with the fruit and stone. This is exactly how I would imagine a fragrance inspired by the Morrigan. I first learned about this goddess in the book Witches of America by Alex Mar. It’s a documentary novel in which the Author spent 5 years traveling around America to document different Pagan practices. One of the women she befriends and becomes close with has dedicated herself to the Morrigan. I love the idea of a feminine war goddess, a symbol of the strength and independence of feminine energy. I adore this scent and will be wearing it often to evoke inner strength. It’s strong, sweet, deep, and intense, just like the Morrigan. It has decent throw and lasts all day on my skin.

~ Wisdom ~

First Impression: The first thing I smelled is sweet wood, it’s so wonderful. The warm spices and incense are beautiful. The sage isn’t apparent at first, but as it warms into the skin it comes out, and it’s lovely.

Overall Impression and Wear Time: This is one of my favorite scents in the bunch. It’s warm and smokey but green and earthy at the same time. The sage is so nice, and reminds me of the bundles of sage you use to smudge. It lasts so long on me and just gives me this aura of an old witch shop.

First Impression: The cinnamon and vanillas remind me of warm christmas cookies. As it warms into the skin, it becomes spicier.

Overall Impression and Wear Time: This is such a warm and sultry scent. It has a fall spice feeling to it, but the dragon’s blood makes it a bit darker. This is a perfect scent for fall.

~ Ain’t I a Woman: Sojourner Truth ~
Brand Description: She was born into slavery in New York, fled to freedom with her daughter, then attained legal custody of her son, becoming the first black woman to successfully sue a white slave owner. She spoke widely as an abolitionist and women’s rights activist. Her groundbreaking 1851 speech, later titled “Ain’t I A Woman,” was delivered at the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention.Her scent is one of indomitable hope and faith: a sacred incense of amber and sandalwood, Bartlett pears poached with vanilla bean, and a scattering of dry tea and patchouli leaves. Wear this comforting blend for stability and self-assurance.

First Impression: Just the fact that Nui Cobalt Designs created a scent inspired by Sojourner Truth makes them one of my favorite brands. She is such an inspiring woman that I wish more people knew about. This scent is a delicious spicy gourmand, and my first sniff is mostly pears and earthy incense.

Overall Impression and Wear Time: I’m obsessed with this fragrance. It’s sweet and smokey at the same time, and the notes are so realistic. The pear smells so fresh and not overly sweet. That paired with the amber and sandalwood makes this scent feel like a warm hug. The vanilla is understated, and the dry tea and patchouli give this an earthiness. It has a good throw and is very long lasting.

Cobalt Druid Collection
~ Sultry ~
Brand Description: A time-honored Hoodoo blend, famous for its power to attract passionate love as well as abundant wealth. Two dark, lascivious vanillas swirled with dragon’s blood, heavy velvet musk and the secrets of an old rootworker’s conjure cabinet

First Impression: This almost smells.. almost like peanut butter when it’s still wet on the skin. It’s strange but it quickly changes as it dries down to be more smokey sweet.

Overall Impression and Wear Time: This is definitely unique. That nuttiness is there, but not overpowering. The dragon’s blood and musk are subtle, and melt into the skin. As it wears it becomes a sweet skin scent. It’s dark but not too intense. I find this one has a shorter lasting time than the others, and less of a throw.

Overall Brand Review:

I now have a new favorite fragrance brand. I really enjoy every scent, and some are now favorites amongst my collection. Nui Cobalt Designs definitely has it’s own distinct flavor to it’s scents. It’s a smokiness and depth that adds an element of mysteriousness to these fragrances. A word I used a lot describing them was ‘sultry’. I can definitely feel the magickal influence in these. Also, the brand owners Forest and Josh are super cool people that clearly put a ton of time and energy into their scents. They come out with new fragrances often, and they all sound so interesting. I’ve found that these are some of the most long lasting fragrance oils on my skin, with a strong but not overpowering throw.
